you remember the M2 system from years ago? M2 was announced in 1994, demoed and hyped to high-heaven in 1995-1996, due for release by the end of 1996, delayed, and finally the home console version was killed in spring 1997. all because Matsushita was too chicken to take on Sony, even after paying 3DO $100 million for the M2 chipset technology at the end of 1995. remember the famous CAR DEMO from 1995? http://www.photodump.com/direct/edgemagazine/3do_m2_car_demo006.jpg http://www.photodump.com/direct/edgemagazine/3do_m2_car_demo001.jpg http://www.photodump.com/direct/edgemagazine/3do_m2_car_demo003.jpg http://www.photodump.com/direct/edgemagazine/3do_m2_car_demo004.jpg http://www.photodump.com/direct/edgemagazine/3do_m2_car_demo005.jpg video: http://dairoku.free.fr/M2%20car%20demo.avi can you just imagine what M2 would've done to the industry with games like that in 1996 ? everyone from Sega to Nintendo to Microsoft was interested in 3DO's M2 technology and its spinoffs. Microsoft ultimately grabbed the 3DO team along with their chip-designs. guess what's mixed into Xbox 360's graphics chipset along with ATI stuff ;)
