Quick Ironband plug - in Iron, sleep/confuse/slow can be a good way of
tackling some uniques.
For example, casting Sleep on the dogs can help you survive the first
few levels - but even later on, these enchantment spells can be
effective. (Some monsters are vulnerable to one or more of sleep,
confuse, and slow, and some of these monsters are unique.)
