I decided to aim at the possibility of a 250K turn win, so I pulled out the
big guns and tried some rangers.
This is possibly my best start ever. I am in town after my first trip. I
returned with about 5.5K money, bought a couple ?recall, have 5055 left.
This is my patched version, so selling to generate more cash is
disallowed.
My sling is *not* a gift certificate worth 7K. The bonus cash, about 3.5K
at
this point in the game, helps but does not make up for no selling.
Playing warriors, I remember learning a lesson over and over. Buy a staff
of
teleportation instead of enchanting your bow. Very important lesson.
This time is different. :) That's what I keep thinking. There are
scrolls of
teleport level for sale. However, staves beat scrolls when blind or
confused.
I really want to get a ring of SI, but cannot afford both it and _telSelf.
Is it really different this time?
Often, people who answer that question with "yes" eventually regret it.

So what do I buy? Large quantities are available on the consumables.
I intend to go down to 1500' on the next trip, luck permitting.
If I get any ?+dam, do I use them on a bow, the sling, or the rapier?
I'd guess my rapier is +2 dam, and the sling is +4 or +5 dam, but I don't
have
any real confidence in those guesses. I have not been using them that
long
and I refuse to take notes.
I've made branded weapons obvious when wielded, so even with weak pseudo
the
best a {good} weapon can be is one of the x2 or x3 slays.
