The ability to detect {traps, doors, objects} makes it easy to focus on
where to go. The stealth helps you avoid nonproductive fights.

I do not remember that combination. I've said in the past that rogues are
the best overall characters, but I have not played any for a long time.
It is possible that p_class.txt has changed since my last rogue.
At my speed these days, stat gain doesn't kick in until really deep, and
hp
seem like the main problem. However, great stealth + ESP might be enough.
I played a fighter who killed Sauron when cLevel 37 using acid ammo, and I
realized that a cLevel 40 ranger with non-branded ammo would be just as
effective. I need to debug the effects of my patch with weak pseudo, so I
am
playing rangers for a while.

Have you switched to 3.0.9b? According to the announcement, dragonscale
should be squelched separately now.
