No. The 3d6 weapon would be better, once you enchant it with scrolls
in the Alchemist. This is extremely im****tant, especially for your
bow. You can enchant up to (+9, +9) with some effort, up to (+7, +7)
easily.
In any case, if you are reasonably strong and dextrous, you can get 2
(or possibly 3) blows with a dagger or main gauche. In that case,
both of your weapons are worthless. Once you enchant a light weapon
to +7 or higher it should do more damage than either of yours.

Rangers get an extra shot with a longbow or shortbow at level 20.
Until then, the crossbow will do more damage. Just don't bother
enchanting it. Save the scrolls for level 20.

No.
They are more likely to be a problem in that you can't carry as much
inventory without being slowed--and that will get you killed.
