You may recall a couple weeks ago I had a dwarf warrior in Zangband find a
Robe of Permanence at 100 feet?
Well, contrary to all expectations he's still alive, clevel 36 dlevel 56,
and fairly good kit. Until I hit an odd hourglass-shaped vault. There was
nothing terribly scary in it -- except Corwin; eek! -- and I persuaded him
to chase me out of the vault, teleported away, and snuck back on the OTHER
side of the vault to loot it while he waited outside.
Long story short, I had only a little permanent speed, but in the vault
found not one, but TWO RoS -- the first +13, the second +15.
Ho. Ly. CRAP! I had to shed my two rings of extra attacks (+1), but it's
so
worth it to have permanent speed +36 altogether (4 from my randart weapon,
4 from my randart sling). Keep on DIVING!
Still haven't maxed out a single stat, either, not even CHR.
