Hi, All... played for years on and off, but killing Morgoth has yet escaped
me, as I resolutely refuse to save-file cheat and take it pretty hard when
my character dies, which induces a self-imposed (but temporary)
banishment.
My kids look at me weird that I play "that game of pipes and letters"
Anyhow, discuss: What about modifying the effects of quaffing stat
potions?
....right now they are pretty uniform... any 18+ STR character who quaffs
a
potion of strength can expect the same range of increase, up to their
character max...
but what if Half-Troll Warriors who quaff a potion of strength get a very
large bonus, while Hobbit Mages who do the same get marginal results?
That would essentially delay the point at which characters max out their
stats, and preserve the unique feel of the race/class longer.
I'll close with a homage to my personal graveyard:
R.I.P:
(a few nameless souls as I learned the ropes)
adkfajd: Elf Warrior--hooked me on the game
Me: Human Warrior--thought I could win the game. Thought wrong
Me2: Human Warrior--Surely this time.
Me3: Human Warrior--Now I really know my stuff.
CannonFodder: Human Warrior--I wonder how far deep I can go with just
torches and food. "it breathes" ended his journey in the 30's.
MyMage: Human Mage--Maybe I need some magic.
Shazam: Human Mage--Cool, I know magic now. Not enough, evidently.
Meat4Hounds: Gnome Rogue--Still angry over Shazam's untimely death to
hounds, apparently.
Medic: Half-Elf Priest--I took a vow that this character would not kill
any
animals. Killed by...Inertia Hounds. The injustice!
Invincible: Dunadan Ranger-Surely a tough character is all it takes.
Cautious: Elf Rogue--That's it, I'm going to take my time.
Frodo: Hobbit Mage--He made it in the books/movies, right?
And wish Rosie, my level 46 Hobbit Mage, all the best, as she's my longest
living character to date....
