thing is that (if that thing is usefulat all) most 20k item are _too_ 
useful to be sold for money that early. Money would be useful, but not 
so useful that you would sell that kind of item.

If you get, lets say, lance of *slay orc* at 150', then it is a big 
deal. That gets sold faster than you can say "I'll sell this". Or 
dungeon spellbook of wrong type. Or Boots of extra carrying capacity (+1).
