  The actual impact varies by situation though, so you couldn't just
cut an arbitrary number of inventory slots.

  If you need money, then you likely feel the need to dedicate slots
to money items.  If you don't need money, you have no need to dedicate
any slots for such a purpose.  And if you are in the middle ground,
then you'll have a floating scale as to how much money is enough to
command a spot versus a useful item.
