Hmm...probably not V-compatible at all, but I'm leaning towards unbounded
inventory size.  This gives undue im****tance to carrying capacity and
speed, but
would certainly partially solve the TMJ problem for strong characters by
guaranteeing the slots will be available for Slow Monster/Confusion/Sleep
Wands.
 (It also grossly unbalances cashflow in favor of strong characters, if
other
measures aren't taken.)

[UI: make the backpack a pageable screen.  Savefile-breaking because the
equipment slots need to be shunted to the front of the player inventory
array,
and a player inventory array length is also needed in the savefile.]

While I find the notion of which theoretical version would be more fun,
meaningless; it's too radical a change for the comparison to even exist.

No-sell is an ironman option compared to sell.  It would be next to
impossible
to balance gold+item drops properly for both sell and no-sell versions in
the
same release.
