It's funny, but I have never seen the original challenge
rules myself. I was going entirely upon the postings of others.

The first talents I chose were 'good shot', 'keen shot' and 'quick'.
They really helped damage output in the early game. After gaining
a few exp. levels, my damage was up to 1d2 +14, that's when I
killed the old barbarian for some fast exp. levels.

Worse, the trident is a two handed weapon, so it costs both
****elds to use it. It is useful when fighting monsters that
can't fight back in the darkness, like the S**** from Beyond.
You can stand outside the darkness, and fling bling inward to
great effect. Careful though, because if a monster does panic
in the dark, and they have no escape route, they can hit then.

Unfortunately, the +crit power of artifacts (like the RotMC)
only applies to melee attacks. It's still really useful for
the De boost though.

By 'offensive alchemy' he means the use of herb/potion mixtures
to intentionally create fireball explosions. If your PC has
fire immunity, this is an effective way to deal tremendous
damage to groups of enemies. (It can even save a PC's life in
a place like the Mana Temple : ) )

I think that disabling potions, like cursed potions of invis,
blindness, and confusion are all in bounds for the challenge.
I tried to refrain from using them though, and I think I
never had to.

The talents 'good shot' and 'keen shot' do apply to thrown
gold pieces. To improve your range, get to exp. level ten
as fast as possible. Your blinging range goes from two
spaces to five at exp. level ten!

I was a bit afraid of that myself, especially with the ToEF
ahead. I had no idea how much of my gold would burn away in
there, as I had no RoI, so I was reluctant to sac what I had.
It turns out that I found much more gold in the tower, than
was burned away. The gold just burned a few pieces at a time.

The fling the bling thread will be located a few pages back, as
it was accomplished a while back. We have started playing a Roman
Republic game since then, along with a mess of other stuff : )
Maybe come over and take part in the next RRC game. You sound
like a pretty experienced player, a welcome addition!
