It's certainly possible, but extremely difficult. The bonuses you get are
poor and the lack of ****eld is really crippling. Still, challenges aren't
meant to be easy...

Bows and crossbows are by far the best since you find slaying ammo with
them, which are what's really needed for the majority of tough bad guys.

Two Weapon Combat is quite weak, but you might get a bit more DV with it.
Your other options would be halberds (classed as polearms, so good DV from
them) and two-handed weapons (can be rare, but find an eternium two-hander
of penetration and you're sorted). A lot of this relies on luck. What
really would help you is artifact slaying weapons, which makes it a good
idea to get a crowning or precrown early.

No chance! Even as a grey elf you'd be useless with magic, and you'd be
incredibly weak to boot. I'd recommend drakelings - they level much
faster
than trolls and still have excellent regen. The Alertness is handy, and
the
acid spit can be useful at times. Gnomes are decent if you want ultra
fast
levelling, and ventriloquism can make melee against some bosses easier
(though useless on undead unfortunately). Orcs are okay for starting
stats,
and have Find Weakness which is a HUGE help. Dark elves also have find
weakness, but are very fragile early on.
I'd recommend taking DV talents as much as possible, and trying to
maximise
your DV on equipment (smithing can help).
