I'd say go ahead with the dwarven elder quests.  They can be quite 
rewarding.  Going to the HMV is risky since it means going through the
small 
cave, which would be incredibly hard and most likely fatal.  Leave off the

dwarven ****tal quest until later.  You might want to consider doing the 
pyramid before the arena quests too.
