You can dump stuff on an altar to tell it's cursed, but only if it's an
altar of your god. Adom also has holy water wich works mostly the same
as in nethack. The identify scroll is far more common than any other
scroll, so if you get about 4 of the same scrolls it's worth reading.
(preferably blessed or uncursed)
There is a shop in the bandit town, and you can use it to
check out the inventory wich can ID some object types. The prices
offered will be very low, but still depend on item quality.
If you have 5 robes and one of them is more expensive try it on.
Walking around there should be safe after the village dungeon.
Some items in ADOM are worth trying on immediately and you have to
learn that by experience. If something is likely to be much better
than you use right now, you should try it. For example. If you have no
****eld, any wooden, medium or better ****eld is worth trying.
(if you use a 1-handed weapon, or are a spellcaster)
