For a suicidal plan, that actually worked quite neatly!

by Siriah <Siriah@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Mar 4, 2008 at 11:15 AM

My most promising character yet reached the banshee level. I thought I
was out of luck, because both of my fireproof blankets had burned up
in the Tower of Eternal Flames for some reason, which had caused me to
lose my beeswax, and the potions of deafness I'd tried to make both
turned out blessed. I had no unholy water, either. At that point, I
got the most fundamentally stupid idea ever: I was going to sneak up
on the banshee and bolt it to death in one hit before it could see me.

I cast Farsight and opened two secret doors to the Banshee chamber.
She didn't react. I then bounced a magic missile off the wall to hit
her. It didn't kill her, and she started to chase me. I ran away on my
seven league boots and tried to destroy her with firebolts, but she
shrugged most of them off. As I was nearing a dead end, there was a
message something like "The banshee screams her horrible wail". It
didn't hurt me, apparently I was far enough away. I remembered I could
teleport to the downstairs, and got the hell out of there.

Does anyone know what the range of the Banshee's scream is? Someone
who's trained with missile weapons could probably take her out without
even needing deafness (although it wouldn't be very smart).
