In the adom guide concerning the ToEF it says "In addition, they can
only be converted by champions of Balance or Order, which means PCs
going for an ultra ending cannot convert them early in the game,
before retrieving the Medal of Chaos."
Does this mean if you are going for an ultra ending that you shoudn't
convert any of the elemental altars until you have the MoC?
