ADOM is not deterministic. So when you happen to be in a certain
situation( like your characters are in your old games), there might be no
way out. The only solution, no matter how unpopular, might be to start a
new
game.

Then just kill the smegger ASAP. If you have the chance, you can use
missiles or spells to kill him before he sees you and thus preventing him
in
summoning.

I think I said it before that I don't have a problem with jackals so I
don't
know exactly when you should start to worry about them. I probably kill
somewhere around 100 or 150. So when you reach 200, you can start to worry
:).
