I've found a way to kill every single NPC I meet and not commit a
single chaotic act.
I just killed about 80% of everyone in Lawenilothehl and the HMV, and
my alignment only changed when I killed Hawkslayer and Kranf Niest,
which has nothing to do with attacking them unprovoked.
Here's how: Put something in your missile slot. As long as you have a
high enough to-hit bonus, it can be anything; rock, spear, seed, plate
mail, anything.
Now target someone who "does not care about you." If you try to fire
your missile, you will be asked "Really attack the -foo-? [y/N]"
because doing so would be a chaotic act.
However, if you try to fire your missile a space(s) past your target,
it will be considered accidental and therefore not a chaotic act, and
you're now free to kill this hostile monster.
Enjoy your platinum girdle, you rampaging sociopath!
