Re: Cyberpunk v3 - analysis

I picked it up and agree with a number of the posters concerning the
game. I got it because I have played CP v1 and v2 since the beginning
and I do want to sup****t Talsorian Games since CP, TFOS, and Mekton are
games I've played the most and have spent many hours these past years,
getting much enjoyment from the experience.

Like anything, you can pick and choose just what you want in the game.
For instance, if someone wants some good old metal cyberware, all the
power to them. However, I wouldn't let some Desnai guy stomp around in
Night City with a PA or full-blown mech. If I wanted that, I'd bust out
Mekton instead. CP v3 really puts more on the GM to keep things real
and stuff in check. Yea, not too thrilled with the "were-whale" but you
know, my game, my world, no "were-whales". I almost see CP v3 as
serious escalation. Back in v2, full blown 'borgs were pretty rare and
typically unaffordable by the PCs but now, they are fairly common in v3
(and a "class", no less). Need bigger guns.

I kind of saw CP v3 as "CyberGeneration" grown up. I did buy the core
book for "CyberGeneration" but our group really didn't like it. But
there are a number of similarities between v3 and this short-lived
game.

I did like the "netrunning" concepts in CP v3 because it brought the
netrunner out of the coffin or whatever distant location they were
operating from and into the front lines. With skillful integration by
the GM, the action pace can increase and not leave the other players
falling asleep while the netjock hacks. After all, the netjock has his
or her hands full with the Lich in the 'net while the solos and other
poor bastards get to deal with it outside the 'net. Talk about
paranoia! "Hmmm...is that vending machine reeeeeealy a vending
machine?"

I dunno. To each their own. Pick and choose what you like in CP v3 and
go with it. If not, hey...CP v1 and CP v2 are still there to fall back
to.
