I haven't been agreeing with Ben but I do want to say something here.
People CANNOT be held to a moral standard that they will not accept.
They can be scorned and they can be punished but they cannot be made
to feel that what they did was immoral if they believe it was not. I
have been punished for sitting at a lunch counter with people who
weren't supposed to be there and I have been punished for driving
while intoxicated. I still don't think that the former was wrong but I
KNEW that the latter was wrong and thanked the judge for not being
unpleasant or vindictive at the sentencing.

While, as a political and social matter, I believe that people should
have a wide lattitude of behavior and are not accountable to me for
their actions, I don't abdicte my duty as a member of society to have
an opinion of their actions and, when it is possible and my feelings
are clear, to express my opinion.
