Correct.  But if the adventure involved a lot of uncovering of information

and the PCs kept much of that information to themselves (common in my 
experience, perhaps not so common in your experience), then if they all 
die, any new PCs must learn what the old PCs learned all over again, 
though the second time around it won't be fresh for the players.
