This is my job... kinda.
My wife and I are going into the flea market business, sales 2 or 3
days a week from a table or booth in a central place with a number of
similar vendors. (Definition provided in case 'flea market' is a local
idiom; Fleas don't have much profit margin.) I've convinced my wife
that the Internet is a good way to sell excess inventory as well as our
best chance of getting weekends off some day. I then took the next step
and sold her on the idea that pursuing our on-line hobbies is the best
way to secure our "natural market." Eventually I'll have a link in my
signature file and a couple tasteful buttons on each of about half-dozen
hobby sites (two of which will be for Diplomacy) that are planned.
I loathe spam, pop-ups, pop-overs, banners and those Flash movies that
keep cra****ng my browser. I plan to do all my own marketing to be
certain that these and similar abuses aren't committed on my behalf.
