open areas and at LEAST 50 different enemies (different colors on
same art work are FINE, so long as they act differently)
LOTS of secret areas and hidden access. Many different TYPES of weapons
(one or two machine guns is plenty! How 'bout a machine shotgun for
emergencies? It would have to overheat or somethin' to balance the game
play) Gratuitous (sp?) blood and gore to a comical extent. Original
artwork and sound with artists that COLLABORATE! Minimal or hypnotic type
music. Some sort of story line, but nothing too complex or with too many
plot twists. An engine that runs like water (even if you sacrifice some
"realism") with fully implemented features (no experimental stuff or
half-assed hacks) You should get somethin' besides OLDER as you progress
through the game. Any kind of trinket will do. (ID used PDA's in Doom 3)
The player should ac***ulate all weapons 2/3 of the way through the game.
All input should be fully configurable. Monsters should use some kind of
pathfinding and be able to go EVERYWHERE the player can go. (If Imps can
duck and crawl, why don't they crawl where our Nameless Marine Avatar
does? ID are you listening?) Have a gimmick. Make YOUR game known for
something. Release a demo and make the game shareware. TAKE AS LONG AS
YOU NEED TO FINISH!!! Quality over brevity (chronologicaly speaking).
Keep going even if you start to hate the game. Artists are the worst
critics of their work. Last, give a 'holler when you're done:
