Emacs, I'll grant you; but of course the real motivation behind the
writing was that the Emacs boys wouldn't take all ESR's patches. Fetchmail
is a hack, and should be avoided - and it's no way as big as NetHack.

No, that's not true; NetHack is still actively developed - those new
versions _do_ appear periodically. It's just secretive.
