I have, quite frequently.

Usually, it was the "Savegame buffer overflow" that prevented you from
saving your game in the middle of the level. These kinds of maps, as
you know, were generally made by very inexperienced mappers.

There's also the visplane overflow as well. Just simply walk into a
large room, and Doom suddenly drops to the Dos prompt.

In most cases, I would agree. The source ****ts that have popped in a
have done a great job of eliminating every limit that can potentially
appear in the Doom engine. The result is that Doom can now sup****t
ultra large levels, similar to Serious Sam.

There's still one major problem: A41_COOP and TRINITY do something
with the textures that work fine in Doom 1.9, but reacts unpredictably
with the Ultimate Doom. The same can apply if you wish to play with
multiple wad files that utilize different texture sets.

There are ways around this, but they involve procedures that most
people shouldn't be confortable with.
