Chinese Chess program (Zillions)

by "M Winther" <mlwi@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Apr 12, 2008 at 01:20 PM

This program was tested against the freeware Qianhong and its
plugins (ElephantEye, etc.), and it wins seemingly easily. Of course,
it is weaker than XieXie by Pascal Tang. It doesn't know theory, but
it plays reasonably well in the opening and advances with the c- or
g-pawn, etc. There is one Chinese and two Western forms of piece
types. Zillions today costs $20(?) to download and then you get
Korean Chess and a thousand other games (although I don't get a
penny for my work). This software is good enough for accomplished
amateurs. I would like to know how you judge my evaluation of the
relative piece values which I use in the program:

Chariot	1.00
Cannon	0.60
Horse	0.43
Elephant	0.18
Soldier	0.18
Mandarin	0.15
