I assume that his wikipedia main article and discussion page
are branching points for obtaining some facts. That discussion
page identifies an "attempted abduction" (of his own daughter)
coupled with failure to appear. Not the same as kidnapping...
          http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Sam_Sloan

Apparently the court system has determined that he did the
time and paid for his crime. Are you of the opinion that people
who have served their legitimate sentence are made unwelcome?
There is a "Catch Me If You Can" pattern of Sam Sloan aspiring
to some great position then not being re-elected or re-instated.
     The wikipedia references today serve as a kind of Sloan resume;
for this and related reasons I now deem him rendered as harmless.

Let's examine the USCF suit: Do you suppose slanders on
Usenet are an appropriate means for conducting USCF elections?
Is somebody alleging that Sloan committed his own slanders? If
Sloan went pro se why did it need to cost USCF tens of thousands?
Surely his case was not frivolous if USCF had to shell out the money.
Which policy issues in the Chess Community did Sam Sloan intend
to contravert? Does it really matter who staffs the USCF
bureaucracy?
Why was it so necessary for the USCF to waste those member funds?

Is there any reason why our discussion here should not conform
to something akin to wikipedia edit discussion standards, i.e. that
all statements need to obtain reliable source verification by facts?
After all, I conduct my own "mental evaluations" of everybody who
crosses my path, such as defensive driving, and to include those
exhibiting aberrations. Anybody who has been stopped by a traffic
cop is also being *****sed for "mental evaluation."

                  - regards
