Or xboard and gnuchess if you prefer Linux/MacOS.  Gnuchess will beat
you easily unless you're a strong player or start in a convincingly
won position.  People will probably be able to give recommendations
for weaker engines.

If you want a stronger engine (Gnuchess not hurting you hard enough?
;-) ) try Fruit or something like that.
