That's a bit steep to start out with. First you
need to "set the hook", only then can you reel
the fish in.

If I were you, I would start with a free version,
then get a ton of help improving it. Nah-- if I were
you, I would stop trying to compete with chess
professionals, many of which are chess masters
with vastly superior knowledge and thus, a huge
inherent advantage.

every year! There is always some lucky
upstart who somehow bounces his way
through on luck and reckless daring alone.

Neither. You see, the Indian Ocean is
teeming with sharks, hungry for weak
chess players. And then there are the
sea snakes; their bite is deadly, and even
if you somehow manage to evade them,
there are pirate ships which search
endlessly for floating humans to sell as
crash test dummies and whatnot. You
are really better off to stay in the rivers
and streams, despite the dangers of
being attacked by tigers.
Believe me, it is well worth the $50 or
$100 cost per can for what is called
"bear mace". The last time I tried to
tussle with a tiger, I was unprepared and
he got the better of me; bad luck, I
suppose. *Next time* I will be ready for
him.
