OK, sorry, I heard some who said rebid 2C and some who said 1N,
and thus I still assumed 2C as one of the American options.
The problem with 1N is less, assuming it would be weak.

The systemic bid in my world is 2D whether the dist is 1=4=5=3, 
2=4=5=2 or 3=4=5=1.  In the first of these cases, I had the 
impression that many (more) Americans would rebid 2C.

If the 2D bid is explained, it is explained as 6d or 4=5 in red.

No.  With 4 clubs, 2C is the systemic bid.  The 0=4=5=4 hand is a
potential problem which easily can lose the 4-4 fit in hearts.
