If it is an opening bid then 2C is the only sensible rebid IMO.

If your question is asking if very minimum hands should rebid 2D instead
of 
2C then I think that is very wrong.

However if you are asking whether 1D was sensible then it is a matter for 
partner****p style - I would open it but some would not.
