(I could insert some snide comment such as 'how are we to know that
the hands aren't
S xxxxx
H Jxxx
D xxx
C x
S - S QJ109x
H KQxx H Axxx
D KQxxx D --
C Kxx C 109xx
S AKx
H x
D AJxx
C AQJxx
Where the play goes:
Opening lead: D K
Defense:
1. DK Dx *Cx Dx
2. *Cx Sx SQ SK
3. Dx Dx *Cx Dx
4. *Cx Sx SJ SA
5. Dx Dx *C9 DJ
6. DQ Sx *S10 Sx
7. *HQ Hx Hx Hx
8. Dx Sx *C10 DA
9. *CK Cx S x CQ
Result -1100
but that would be uncalled for).
Please note of the two choices Jeff chose to pass rather than bid 2C.
The question is what you define as an "error"
For example, suppose one alternative bidding action is not an error in
the sense it is not a major blunder.
However, if another alternative action has a better expectation then
choosing the inferior action can be defined as an error.
In your particular examples, you have to construct almost a fairyland
examples to miss game in 5C and 5D at the five level to win 600. In my
particular examples, you can go for as much as -1100 or -800
immediately on the two level.
You may call 2C not an error but that there plenty of casinos in Las
Vegas that are open 24/7 to take your action and make a good living at
it.
