A little more explication. Partner doubled to give us a chance to
penalize the opponents on an off-shape hand with some defensive
values. He has a shape along the lines of:6-3-3-1 or 6-2-4-1. He also
has at least moderate extras, since with a bare 12 count he would have
just rebid 2S. His spades are good enough to handle any auction, so if
we had jumped in hearts he felt safe converting back to spades at any
level. He probably does not have a club void, since then he would not
be so eager to encourage a penalty pass with a good 6-card spade
suit.
None of this analysis changes the fact that your hand is a piece of
crap. And partner still has one more chance to bid if he really wants
to over your pass.
