It seems to me that what you need is good hearts (i.e., at least the

and an ace. And there doesn't seem to be any "standard-ish" ways to
find that out. So, I think if I had it to do over again, I'd just bid
6H and hope for the best.

Incidentally, at the table, pd had KQJxxx and the club ace, but result
was making 5, due to a(nother) BBO distributional quirk.

So, presuming the hands look like this

xxx
KQJxxx
x
Axx

AKxxx
Axxx
x
KQx

My guess is that the auction should go

1s 2h
3c 3h
5h ?

Now responder does have a problem. The matching diamond singletons
are duplicated values and bidding slam presumes that responder can do
something with the 3rd spade. Change opener's hand to

AKxxx
Axx
x
KQxx

and while you have good prospects to avoid losing a black suit trick,
it is not certain (clubs could be 4-2 and there mght be no black suit
squeeze). Strengthen opener's clubs and weaken his spades to get

AQJxx
Axx
x
KQJx

and slam is still on a spade finesse.

As responder I would just go ahead and bid the slam, knowing that it
could be going down. The combination of the 3rd spade and duplicated
singleton diamonds would worry me.
