In my response, I had missed that North was a passed hand. Passed hand
does
not have forcing bids so the free bid could well have been made with any
of
these and maybe some worse hands too.
Looks like Andrew might have missed that fact also because these examples
would have been opened 2H (weak two) even in SAYC which is a commonly
understood to be of conservative style.
