What you can do is effectively play "Team of 4" with 6-player teams
and have the people would would be sitting out play each other.
To that end, you can play 6-person teams for any even number of rounds
as follows:
Let's call the "Boys" pairs 1, 2, and 3 and the "Girls" pairs A,B and
C
First Round:
1-2vsA-B with set 1.
3vsC with set 2
Compare set 1 Only
Second Round
Bv1 with set 2
C-Avs2-3 with set 3
Compare sets 2 and 3
This completes 3 matches in the time it takes to play 2.
If you would like to play more rounds, you can rotate one team or the
other so that the later go rounds might look like this:
Third Round:
2-3vsA-B with set 4
1vsC with set 5
Compare set 4 only
Fourth Round:
Bvs2 with set 5
C-Avs3-1 with set 6
Compare sets 5 and 6
Fifth round
3-1vsA-B with set 7
2VsC with set 8
Compare set 7 only
Sixth round:
Bvs3 with set 8
C-Avs1-2with set 9
Compare sets 8 and 9
If you go the full 6 rounds, everyone will have played everyone on the
opposing team and had both pairs on their own team as teammates. If
you play 4-board sets, you will have matches totaling 36-board where
each player will have played 24. If you play 3-board sets, you will
have 27 board matches where each player has played 18.
You can score the whole event as one 36- or 27-board match either as
BAM or IMPs or you can score each 3- or 4-board match separately
(counting Wins and loses or using a VP scale)
If you only play 2 rounds, you can play longer sets (8-16 boards each)
and, once again, score the whole 24-48-board match as one match
(either as BAM or IMPs) or go for best 2 out of 3 wins (or convert to
VPs).
