What scoring? What system?
If 1H promises 5, and we have some artificial good raise available
(e.g. Jacoby 2NT), I bid 3H (mostly pre-emptive).
If 1H promises 4, and 3H would be a limit raise, I bid 2H.
(Both of these are applicable at both MPs and IMPs)
Yes, I can see the advantages of a 1S psych on some deals. However, I
see no reason not to let partner know about my sup****t. The only
other bid I consider is 3C, if that's a fit jump, but I reject it
fairly swiftly unless we've agreed in advance that it can include such
dire suits.
