If you play F2F bridge in a club, for example, ask the director to give
you 
a little spiel on alerting and explaining.  Or go online and read the 
alerting regulations (if in USA, the ACBL regulations) and the laws (laws 
are same anywhere in the world) that discuss agreements and explaining. 
Not 
all club TD's are knowledgeable or know the laws but that's where I would 
recommend you start.

You are likely to get more confusion here as some posters on rgb are known

to hold heretic views that are in conflict with the laws and regulations.
