It would be ironic if Bob called someone rude, abrupt or unkind. It is
not ironic when Bob calls someone an idiot. Although, in this case he
is calling the imaginary person who bid 3C on this auction an idiot,
which isn't likely to hurt anyone's feelings. He might be
disappointed.

In both cases, I would have bid some number of Clubs earlier or stay
out now.
