If it requires tough defense to get it down one (which is accidental)
maybe you should not double the contract.
Why do you defend 3S in the first place when opponents have a nine
card fit and you a ten card fit in clubs and promising distribution.
(West can see that East is short in spades and as a consequence all
his HCP outside of spades).
Of course there are occasions in bridge where you have to double tight
contracts. This is not one of them.
