As the thread title indicates, the defense is a lot easier when you can 
see all the hands!  Couldn't West have held something like QT82 of 
trumps, with diamond leads necessary to get a second trump trick?

What do people think about the opening lead?  Would the defense have 
been easier if West had led a red suit?  (With a heart lead, it seems a 
_lot_ easier, I think.)  Should that be found?

Would the defense have been easier for East if West had not doubled?
