We had a similar auction in Detroit. Playing a KO
match against one pair of ladies, we were playing
precision. The last hand of the match, we suddenly
got a huge number of questions about our 1D opener
from one opponent and what shapes it might contain
when partner then rebids 2C. Exactly how few diamonds
might he have? As it turns out she had a diamond
stack - SURPRISE!

We avoid 3NT, playing a part score. 3NT would
have made on a normal (non-club) lead as it
turns out. As we walk away, the one lady is
telling her partner that she should have led a
diamond if we got to 3NT. I made sure not to say
a thing, but it was really hard.

We win the match anyway - the best way to deal
with that kind of action.
