Last night my partyner and I were totally fixed on a board, and it is
not clear what redress, if any, we had.
Essentially, a four club bid by the opponents sounded natural (it was
not a jump, no suit had been agreed and no trump had never been bid.
Neither of us realised that it was Gerber, and we consequently
misdefended.
In fact, the opponents did not produce a convention card (although
they apparently had one squirreled away), but even if one had been
produced,l doubt if it would have made any difference.
The bid was not alerted as the EBU requires no alerting above 3NT.
Any comments out there ?
