Greetings,
About a year ago I was fixing my friend's computer and she was
complaining she didn't have a decent Bridge program to play. Knowing
about the multitude of open source games like Chess and Go available, I
told her I'll find her a bridge program and install it. I was
disappointed that I could not find anything, but figured it'll only take
me a few weeks to write something. A busy year passed, and the program I
wrote is finally playable, but very bare. Instead of working in a vacuum
I wanted to ask your comments on it to see what else it needed to make
it work for Bridge players.
The program is available as a single executable jar file, and can be
downloaded from http://gnubridge.org.
You will need Java Runtime
Environment version 1.6 or later to run it.
As far as capabilities, gnubridge only knows the first 3 bidding lessons
from Mr. Pavlicek's tutorial (no doubles). The depth search is fixed at
2 tricks.
Thank you for your time.
Paul
