Best Line of Play?

by StevieTee <stevts@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Feb 3, 2008 at 01:33 AM

Hello

No one is vulnerable, and you are declaring 6C with the following
hands:

         AK8
         K62
         A54
         A943

         4
         AJ3
         Q73
         KJ8752

The bidding was as follows:

       You LHO Partner RHO
        1C (pass) 1D (2S)
       pass (pass) 3S (pass)
        4C (pass) 6C --ALL PASS--

The SJ is led, you rise with the SA, RHO follows (obviously). Clubs
split 2-1 (LHO has two, RHO has one). You have 11 top tricks, and
need to generate one more. How do you rate the following lines of
play:

     (1) Take 2 red suit finesses, and play for either the DK or the
HQ to be on side

     (2) Draw trumps, ruff out spades, then play A-K-J of hearts and
hope that whoever wins the HQ has to either give you a ruff-sluff or
lead away from the DK

     (3) Draw trumps, ruff out spades, then play a low diamond from
dummy to try to duck the diamond to LHO, who hopefully would either
have to lead away from the DK or break the heart suit for you (if RHO
follows suit with a diamond higher than your 7, then you fall back on
the "either of two red suit finesses" alternative).

Is this just a guess, or is there a reason to think that one line is
markedly superior to the others?

Thanks in advance - Steve Sun
