P.S. Unknown to each other, both my partner and I complained about the guy
who closed the table. He was awarded +170 and minus 9 IMPs.
Since you're going to be writing a netiquette column there are a couple of
things you should address, in my opinion.
I believe the "milking" phenomenon I mentioned earlier is one of the most
serious *etiquette* issues on OKBridge. I can't tell you the number of
times
I have seen a table pop in and out of the "open" category. It's always the
same -- a successful pair against a thoroughly rotten player. The pair
keeps
trying to find a partner for the guy, who can barely follow suit. I
suspect
many of these players are drunk. Partner after partner leaves disgusted
after losing 20, 30, 40 imps in a couple of hands. When such players wind
up
at my tables I politely ask them to find a game that's more suitable to
their skill level. If they refuse I disconnect them. It's not fair to take
advantage of such people, or to ask unsuspecting opponents to play with
them. I'll take a tight, well-played game (win or lose) at or near my
skill
level over a blowout due to a drunk opponent, any day of the week.
Another very annoying problem is people who never look at the messages
players type to them. You'll see two, three, four players come in and ask
if
they can sit, and these folks obliviously keep messaging the lobby for
players. Or they don't notice who came in first and ask the last guy to
sit!
