Power Of The Day -- Traitor

by Hadsil <forumite@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Apr 27, 2008 at 09:08 PM

TRAITOR Phase 8

Opponents' Tokens Help Win Challenges

You have the power of treachery. As main player, if both you and your
opponent reveal Attack Cards and you lose, if the difference between
the challenge totals is less than or equal to the number of tokens
your opponent and his allies have in the challenge, then you win the
challenge. This comes into effect after all other challenge
manipulations, including Loser.

HISTORY: The Traitors are adept at convincing the lower ranks of their
enemies at how under appreciative they are. They thus learn their
enemies secrets and win all battles.

FLARE

Phase 8
Wild: As a winning ally, you may have your side lose the challenge.

Phase 8
Super: As an ally, your side wins the challenge if the difference
between the challenge totals is less than or equal to the number of
tokens on the opposing side.

PULSAR

Phase 8
Con: As main player against Traitor, his power comes into effect
before challenge total manipulations, including Loser.

Phase 8
Pro: As main player, after challenge cards are revealed, you may
switch sides. Your tokens then count as ally tokens for your
opponent.

Eon/Avalon:

No Changes

Cosmic Monopoly

When ever another player gets collects money, for whatever reason
except from you, you get $1 from it. You do get the $1 from each $50
other players paid out for Opera Tickets and Chairman of the Board
election. If for some reason a player gets money from different
sources on his turn, such as passing GO and benefiting from a bank
error, you get the $1 from each source.

Experience Rating: Novice

Commentary: This is a combat power created by me. Traitor is
difficult to defeat. The net effect is that tokens opposing Traitor
are worth 0 challenge points. To defeat Traitor, your challenge total
has to be by an overwhelming amount.

I've come to the conclusion that the Con Pulsar is too vague; it could
cause more problems than Sting's use of the word "voluntary". At its
strongest interpretation the Con Pulsar effectively Zaps Traitor which
is not what it's supposed to do while at its weakest interpretation,
only a very select few could get any benefit such that the odds of any
generic player playing it would be the same as if he did not play it.
The strongest means Traitor can't play Reinforcements or Phase 8
Flares, and the weakest means only Loser and Prophet, if anyone else,
would get use out of it. The idea is, Traitor=92s win or loss is
determined before cards affecting totals are played. Thus, Mirror,
Obverse, Kickers, etc. are calculated, then Traitor comes in for Con
Pulsar, then other players can play Reinforcements and Phase 8 Flares,
and then finally Loser and Anti-Matter or other effects that decide
how the winner is determined as opposed to affecting challenge totals.

Matt Stone's set has its own Traitor power, but it is completely
different. My Pro Pulsar effect is similar to Matt's power version
(purposely so).
