Power Of The Day -- Taxi

by Hadsil <forumite@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Apr 18, 2008 at 07:16 PM

TAXI Phases 6, 7, 8

Adds Players' Tokens To Cone

You have the power to be hailed. During any challenge, other players
may pay you a fare to move tokens of their choice from their bases to
their side of the cone. They have to be involved in the challenge.
The defender may put his tokens on the attacked base. This ability
allows players to have more than 4 tokens on the cone or any other
token limit. If desired, players may pay you to remove their tokens
from the challenge. The cost is dependent upon when it's done: Two
Lucre per token in phase 6; Three Lucre per token in phase 7 after
cards are played; Four Lucre per token in phase 8. You may refuse
fares.

History: As the universe becomes more crowded, standard transport
facilities cannot keep up with demand. The Taxis take up the slack.
With the wealth generated from payment for their services, the Taxis
work in union to reach their goal of being in the supreme driver's
seat of the cosmos.

Do Not Use In Games With Crystal Or Monolith
Use Only In Games With Lucre

FLARE

Phase 3
Wild: When not the offensive player, you may allow the offensive
player to pay you 5 Lucre to point the cone at any planet or moon of
his choice; 10 Lucre if you would become the defender. If not
accepted, keep this card.

Phase 6, 7, 8
Super: After collecting the player's Lucre, you choose the tokens to
add to the challenge.

PULSAR

Phase 6, 7, 8
Con: Taxi cannot refuse your fare. If you are on the opposing side of
Taxi in the challenge, you must pay one Lucre per token extra.

Phase 6, 7, 8
Pro: Your tokens may benefit from your power. Pay the Lucre to the
bank.

Eon/Avalon:

Power

1 Lucre for up to every 4 tokens before cards are revealed; 2 Lucre
per every 4 tokens after cards are revealed.

Flare

Wild: 1 Lucre to point the cone to planet or moon of choice; 2 Lucre
if you are to become the defender.

Super: Your tokens may benefit from your power. Pay the Lucre to a
player of your choice.

Pulsar

Con: Taxi cannot refuse your fare. If you are on the opposing side of
Taxi, you must pay 1 Lucre extra.

Experience Rating: Advanced

Cosmic Monopoly

A player may pay you $10 per space to move their Monopoly token that
many spaces, from 2-12, instead of having to roll for movement. If
the player pays an extra 50% for an even number, he may count the
movement as if he rolled doubles. The player has to pay the extra 50%
for doubles even for a 2 or 12.

Commentary: This is a combat power from Jack Reda's "The Warp" web
page under Lucre powers. Sorry, I don't recall the author's name. I
thought it way cool, but I only remembered its concept. The wording
of the power above is mine; it is not as written on the web page, just
the same concept. The Flare and Pulsar are mine, completely.

The power is straight forward; it gives everyone an Amoeba-like
ability. Only in rare cases would Taxi transport opposing tokens when
he's involved in the challenge, but then again, there are players out
there who wouldn't think twice about doing it. Similar to my comments
on Amoeba I doubt I would partake of Taxi's services, maybe at the
more expensive phase 8 rate, though I could see myself paying to
remove tokens from the challenge as a main player and I have to play a
Compromise Card but don't want consolation cards. However, for the
game's sake, I still think this a way cool power and have added it to
my set.
