SMOKEY Set-Up, Phase 8
Sets Attack Limit
You have the power to be bribed. At the start of the game, declare an
attack limit (similar to a speed limit). You are to enforce the law
but can be bought off. If another player reveals an Attack Card above
your limit, he must pay you 2 Lucre. If he can not pay you, you may
take a card at random from his regular hand. If you reveal a card
above your limit, you must pay your opponent 1 Lucre. If you can't
pay, he may take a card at random from your regular hand. All
payments are made simultaneously after the conclusion of the
challenge.
Use Only In A Game With Lucre
FLARE
Interphase
Wild: You may discard all of your Compromise Cards and take 1 Lucre
from the bank for each.
Phase 8
Super: You don't need to pay to play a card above the limit.
PULSAR
Phase 8
Con: You may go just a little above the speed limit by 2.
Phase 8
Pro: Arrest any token involved in the challenge of any and all other
players who played an Attack Card above your limit. Tokens go on your
star. Players can bail them out by paying you three Lucre per token
at any time. If you lose this card, you still hold onto the tokens
until paid.
Eon/Avalon:
Power
Players pay you 1 Lucre when play a card above the limit. If you play
such a card, you pay 1 Lucre to your opponent.
Flare
Wild: "Use once and discard".
Pulsar
Pro: Bail is 2 Lucre per token.
Experience Rating: Advanced
Cosmic Monopoly
When another player rolls dice for movement, roll an equal number. If
the player rolls higher than you, he has an immediate debt to you of
$50. When you roll dice for movement, choose another player to roll
an equal number. If you roll higher, you have an immediate debt to
that player of $20. In long version, the debt for going above the
limit is $50 from others player and you pay $20. This money is
collected after all other debts have been paid.
Commentary: This is a Lucre power from Matt Stone's set, where it is
called Cop. This is a Lucre generating power that can be quite
annoying for other players, not that you should care. The speed limit
does not have to be an actual card. You can make it -100 if you
want. In any case, you'll be getting a lot more Lucre than you have
to pay. Matt Stone's group made an errata to the power to a set limit
of 5.5. The Super Flare is rather lame when you consider you're only
saving one Lucre, for Mayfair version. However, it could happen that
you need or want to spend all your Lucre, and the Super Flare will
prevent your opponent getting a card from your hand.
