Power Of The Day -- Scorpio

by Hadsil <forumite@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Mar 14, 2008 at 12:54 PM

SCORPIO Infinity

Gets Back At Other Players

You have the power of retribution. Whenever a Flare or Edict is
played on you, either specifically or globally, you immediately take
that card and put it in front of you face-up in a pile marked with
that player's name. You collect Edicts before the Vulch. You may play
cards from your piles immediately or eventually but only on the person
who played them on you. Other players are allowed to comment on the
cards in your piles and their uses. Your piles are an artifact. These
Flares and Edicts are not subject to Flare Zap or Edict Zap. A Cosmic
Zap prevents you from collecting Flares or Edicts or the effect of a
played collected card. The card is discarded. If you lose the use of
your power, you keep your collected Flares and Edicts but cannot play
them until you get your power back. You may discard cards from these
piles as part of a deal.

History: The Scorpio revere Honor as their most cherished philosophy.
They do not take kindly to those who do them harm. They exact revenge
upon their opponents with equal force as the harm done to them.

FLARE

Phase 9
Wild: The winning main player must discard Attack Cards until their
total value equals or exceeds the Attack Card he played in the
challenge. If he cannot equal or exceed this value, the player must
discard his entire hand.

Infinity
Super: If a player attempts to use a Flare or Edict to make you lose
the use of your power, cancel that card. Add the cancelled card to
the appropriate pile.

PULSAR

Interphase
Con: Cards Scorpio has against you are redistributed to among his
other piles as he wishes to be played against those players.

Infinity
Pro: You may use your power for other players. Other players make
piles of Flares and Edicts as per your power, except no pile can be
against you and you control the use of collected Flares and Edicts.
Players can offer suggestions for when to use them. Those cards are
discarded when you no longer have this card.

Eon/Avalon:

Power

Collect Edicts and "Use once and discard" Flares as normal. For kept
Flares, each time a player uses it against you, you get one use of
that Flare against that player.

Cosmic Monopoly

Long version only. On you turn, if you land on another player's
property and pay the rent normally without challenging it, note down
how much you paid, in order. The next time that player has to pay you
rent on a property, he cannot challenge it. Also, if the rent you are
owed is less than what you paid him in the order of your list, he has
to pay you that amount instead. In either case, mark off that
payment.

Commentary: This is a resource power from the Astrology series of
powers created by bunnythor. My personal changes are a reworking of
what happens when Scorpio is Zapped (bunnythor allowed the Flare or
Edict to be kept), clarification for what happens to collected cards
if Scorpio loses his power, and the Pro Pulsar (bunnythor had it the
same as Super Flare, except the effect of loss of power is not
negated.).

I really, really like this power. This is a power that is quite in
line to a type of power I would create. This seems like a fun power
to play.

Commentary from bunnythor: This is a penalty power, like Grudge, or
Demigod. Like most penalty powers, it doesn't actually get used much
as written. Scorpio tends to be most used as a Flare and Edict shield,
since most people don't want to be hit with the cards they hit others
with...especially when all the other players are allowed by the
Scorpio power to plot the best timing and effect for retribution.
Scorpio and Insect or Vulch in the same game can play Plague Pong and
wipe each other out, but only if they are really stupid enough to do
so. Scorpio/Aries is a supercombo. Scorpio/Cripple is a stupid combo.

Note that the Scorpio piles are marked with player names. This is so
if Scorpio's power (and his piles) is taken, or if the color-switching
flare is played, Scorpio's retribution is not deflected from its
proper target.

This is more of a theme power than a powerful power, but I still quite
like it.

More Commentary by me: I see that bunnythor intended the collected
piles to go with the power, hence being an "artifact". I accept that
for instances such as Changeling, Wild Dealer, Wild Sorcerer, etc., in
deference to Scorpio being his creation. My loss of power
clarification, therefore, is meant for purposes of having less than
three home bases, Power Outage, Power Rewop, and so forth. It's the
loss of use of power, not loss of power card, that I refer to.
